Why the inhaled route draws research interest
The lung presents a delivery problem that most biologics struggle with: getting an intact therapeutic agent to alveolar tissue at a useful concentration. Nebulization turns a liquid into an aerosol fine enough to reach the lower airway directly. For a nanoscale vesicle this is attractive in principle, and it is the reason the earliest human work on exosome administration outside of injection was done by inhalation.
